Kathmandu, July 17: China’s Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, today paid a courtesy call on Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Debendra Dahal.
During the meeting held at the Minister’s office on Singha Durbar, discussions were held regarding the need to restore the Syaphrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road and the Miteri Bridge along the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa.
The Chinese side expressed interest in restoring the damaged roadways and the bridge. It also expressed a commitment to construct a temporary structure along the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa to facilitate cross-border movement.
In addition, matters relating to the Tokha-Chhahare Tunnel, the Hilsa-Simkot Road, and the Khandbari-Kimathanka Road, the projects supported by China were also discussed during the meeting.
The Chinese Ambassador apprised the Minister that the widening works of the second section of the Kathmandu-Chakrapath (Ring Road) will commence soon.
Minister Dahal acknowledged China’s continued support for Nepal’s development and expressed hope for the continuity of Nepal-China cooperation in the days to come.
Ministry Secretary Keshab Kumar Sharma, who was also present at the meeting, stated that the Nepal-China border bridge in Rasuwa is expected to be restored before the upcoming Dashain festival (by the end of September this year).(RSS)
