Kathmandu, July 14: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that our attention should be focused on developing Nepal as an attractive destination for cine tourism.
Addressing the national and special film prize and award distribution ceremony on Monday, President Paudel said the unique geography of Nepal in itself was naturally a movie studio and added that this could ensure positive contributions to Nepal's cine industry, create employment and develop tourism as well as the national economy.
The President said the cultural identity, nationality, identities of different ethnic communities, cultures, folk cultures, stories, music, songs and literature could be strongly expressed through the means of a movie.
"In recent times cine industry has become more inclusive and the identity and diversity have been strengthened thanks to the priorities of arts, language, costumes and cultures of indigenous nationalities communities," President Paudel added.
The President also urged the cine fraternities to make more artistic, informative and contextual films and take them to the global audience in the era of globalisation and IT.
On the occasion, President Paudel honoured writer and director Laxminath Sharma with a lifetime achievement award. Likewise, 11 individuals got special awards, and 11 others received the national film prize. (RSS)
