Kathmandu, July 12: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the people’s multiparty democracy (PMPD) practiced by CPN (UML) is not just a political theory but a philosophical thought guiding public interest, human welfare and social justice.
Speaking at a journal release and discussion programme organized here today by the Madan Bhandari Foundation, former head of the state emphasized the need for study, research, and discussion about PMPD in higher educational institutions.
Former President Bhandari talked about how the CPN (UML) is steadfastly working according to the principle of moving forward the great goal of making the nation prosperous and the citizens happy.
On the occasion, Bhandari and CPN (UML) Vice Chair Surendra Prasad Pandey jointly unveiled a journal titled 'State, Society, and Development: PMPD Perspective.'
Chairperson of the Foundation, Ushakiran Bhandari, stated that the journal would be a reliable source for those aspiring to study and research about the country for future generations.
The chief editor of the journal is former Foreign Minister and UML leader Mahendra Bahadur Pandey. The journal includes 10 articles.(RSS)
