Implications Of AI

blog

Since its release in November 2022, ChatGPT has revolutionised the world, leading to a steep competition among tech giants to create an even better, faster and smarter AI (Artificial Intelligence). The current AI builds upon the vast repertoire of data and information on the internet and, within seconds, answers the prompts given to it. It has even pervaded social media as AI has gotten so real that it dupes people. Recently, an AI video of a kangaroo trying to board a plane got so viral that viewers had to be reminded that it was AI. And it looked quite authentic too, as it made rounds on social media.

However, AI isn’t just duping viewers on social media; in most aspects of human life, it is transforming how people learn, teach and educate. Students nowadays rely heavily upon AI apps such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek and so on. They have taken to answering their assignments and writing papers with AI posing problems for teachers when it comes to gauging their authenticity. Things get controversial here as even teachers are using AI to craft and create lesson plans for their classes.

It is not just education; even the publishing world hasn’t been spared. The internet is rife with AI tools and apps that enable people to create their own e-books. All it requires is a prompt and a few hundred dollars and lo and behold, your e-book is all set. Even the corporate sector is using AI to replace humans in order to save time and money. Likewise, science, technology and medicine are seeing an increasing use of machine learning. Given the immense influence it has had on the world, AI has been hailed as the next revolution for mankind. But critics are wary of its implications.

What will the AI boom mean for the creative marketplace? Is an AI-generated art better than human-created one? As said previously, AI is pervading social media with artificially generated images that are quite real, leading many to be scammed. Especially AI-generated artworks are surpassing human artists who have spent years perfecting their craft, only to be upended by technology. Hollywood animation industries are already using AI to replace human artists who in turn are quite worried over their future.

What does it mean when an AI can do human work in a matter of seconds? Is the work of such humans then obsolete? What implications will it have in the future for creative humans? If creativity can be generated in seconds, what does it mean for the intricacies of the human mind and its ability for profound creativity? Moreover, as the technological race to AI continues at full speed, it could have ramifications for the entire world.

The fact is that the world is changing and transforming by the minute due to artificial intelligence, which is a creation of the human mind. Many think tanks are worried and rightly so. The human mind is one of a kind. It is imaginative, creative, awe-inspiring and at the same time logical, cognitive and rational. The ingenious human mind has created a machine as a replica that learns by itself but lacks the emotions, intricacies, depth and complex nuances that make a human mind human.
