BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Phuling, July 8: Flights have resumed in Taplejung after nearly a month. Following a long suspension due to poor weather conditions, a plane finally landed at the Suketar Airport on Monday.
Since June 13, flights had been halted due to heavy fog and low visibility. With an improvement in weather conditions on Monday, flights resumed successfully, according to Narayan Kumar Karki, Station In-charge of Nepal Airlines in Taplejung.
According to Karki, four passengers arrived from Kathmandu while five departed from Taplejung for the capital. Six scheduled flights had been affected since the beginning of Asar (mid-July). Karki said that the monsoon season brought adverse weather, which disrupted air services.
In the absence of flights, passengers with tickets were forced to travel by road. Currently, flights between Kathmandu and Taplejung operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. The airfare from Taplejung to Kathmandu is set at Rs. 9,200, Karki added.
