Butwal to introduce Fine Arts education

 By Our Correspondent,Butwal, July 5: For the first time, Fine Arts education is all set to begin in Butwal. Kalika Higher Secondary School, located in Butwal, is introducing the Fine Arts programme in Grades 11 and 12 starting from this academic session, following the footsteps of Kathmandu and Pokhara.

The school’s principal, Dinesh Thapa, announced that enrolment has opened for Grade 11 in Fine Arts at Kalika Secondary, marking the first time this subject is being offered in Butwal.

The initiation of Fine Arts teaching was made possible through the efforts of Dal Bahadur Gurung, educational advisor to Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya.

Ben Prasad Thapa of Nepal Art Milan Chok said that the compulsion to go to Kathmandu to study Fine Arts will now no longer be necessary. 

He said that around 20 local artists, including himself, who are already working professionally in the field, have shown interest in pursuing Fine Arts studies.

The Fine Arts curriculum will include subjects such as Applied Arts, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Fashion Design.

According to Kalika Secondary School, admissions are currently underway, and classes will commence from July 17.
