By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 4: The second edition of the Himalayan Literature Festival and Writers Workshop is set to take place in Kathmandu from May 29 to June 5, 2026.
To be organised by White Lotus Book Shop, located in Kopundole, Lalitpur, the festival will bring together world-renowned authors from North America, Latin America, and Europe, with a special focus on emerging South Asian writers and distinct Nepali literary voices.
Festival coordinator Shreejana Bhandari stated that the edition aims to present Nepal more prominently on the international literary map, infusing the event with renewed energy, broader participation, and a spotlight on contemporary global storytelling traditions.
The first edition of the Himalayan Literature Festival was held on May 27–28, 2024, as the culmination of the New York Writers Workshop Kathmandu. The event featured participation of over 40 international writers from five continents and more than 150 Nepali authors.
Dedicated to the pioneer of modern Nepali poetry, Gopal Prasad Rimal, the festival also saw the launch of translated editions of his poems.
According to the festival’s curator, Yuyutsu Sharma, the upcoming edition aims to establish Nepal as an international literary hub by showcasing literary excellence, fostering dialogue, and blending Himalayan spirituality with global literary traditions.
