By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 3: Nepal welcomed over 577,000 foreign tourists in the past six months of this year. According to Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 577,689 tourists arrived in Nepal during the first six months since January of 2025.
The tourist arrival has decreased slightly by 0.91 per cent during the first six months of the 2025 as compared to corresponding period last year. A total of 583,011 tourists visited Nepal during the first six months of the year 2024.
However, there has been an improvement in tourist arrival in the month of June this year as compared to corresponding period last year. According to NTB, a total of 76,425 tourists entered Nepal in the month of June, this year.
This is slightly higher than the tourist arrival during the same month of last fiscal year 2024. A total of 76,333 tourists arrived in Nepal in the month of June 2024.
Notably, tourist arrival figure in the month of June this year represents a 102 per cent recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels in June 2019, reflecting a steady recovery and growing global interest in Nepal as a travel destination, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
A total of 74,883 tourists visited Nepal in the month of June 2019. The highest number of tourists of 121,687 entered in Nepal in the month of March 2025 while a total of 116,490 tourists entered Nepal in the month of April.
Similarly, a total of 79,991 tourists entered Nepal in the month of January, 96,880 in February and 86,216 in May this year.
The highest number of tourists arrived in Nepal from India in the month of June this year. A total of 32,662 tourists have come from India while 9,696 tourists from America and 6,736 tourists from China have visited Nepal, according to the NTB.
Similarly, 5,449 tourists from Bangladesh, 2,284 visitors from the United Kingdom, 1,831 from Australia, 1,348 from Malaysia, 1,167 from Bhutan, and 1,019 from Japan have come to Nepal in the month of June.
The share of India in total tourist arrival in the month of June is 42.7 per cent while the share of USA was 12.68 per cent, China 8.81 per cent, Bangladesh 7.12 per cent and UK 2.98 per cent.
The tourist inflow which has been decreasing in Nepal after COVID-19 pandemic has started growing since 2024.
According to NTB, Nepal welcomed over 1.147 million tourists in 2024, marking a significant recovery and growth of nearly 13.1 per cent compared to the previous year 2023.
A total of 1,014,882 foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2023. A total of 1.19 million foreign tourists had arrived in Nepal in fiscal year 2019/20.
