By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June30: Actor Jivan Luitel, currently living in the United States, is set to debut in the play Shirishko Phool, doing the role of Suyogbir.

The production will be staged by Kantipur Theatre starting from July 17.

Based on the timeless novel by renowned writer Parijat, the play marks Luitel’s return to acting following his stay in the United States.

Patrika Ghimire, a student of the Kantipur Film Academy, has written the script and will direct the play.

According to Prakash Puri, CEO of both Kantipur Film Academy and Kantipur Theatre, Luitel is scheduled to arrive in Nepal next week, specifically for the play.

“We were looking for a mature character, someone with a strong grasp of literature and deep acting experience. That’s why we approached him,” he said.

The actress playing the lead female role of Sakambari has not yet been revealed.

Puri believes the audience will warmly welcome Jivan Luitel’s return to the stage after such a long time. “The stage is the perfect medium for his comeback,” he added.

Last month, Kantipur Theatre garnered attention with the play Meera, starring Rekha Thapa in the lead role.

Now, with Jivan Luitel’s return, Shirishko Phool is expected to draw big crowd to local theatre.
