By A Staff Reporter,Bhaktapur, June 27: The 323rd anniversary of the Nayatapola Temple at Ta: Maari (Taumadhi), Bhaktapur, was marked on Thursday.

Every year on Asar Shukla Pratipada, a ritual known as ‘Bushwara’ (the placing of a flag) is observed. This marks the official establishment day of the temple, when a few individuals climb to the top and place a flag on the pinnacle. The temple was originally built in 1702 AD (1759 BS).

As of today, it has been 323 years since the construction of this iconic five-storey temple, which holds deep historical and cultural significance in Taumadhi, Bhaktapur.

On this day, the main door of the temple is opened, and the designated Joshi and Achaju priests perform traditional rituals, wishing for happiness, peace, and prosperity for all. General cleaning and maintenance are also carried out besides hoisting the ceremonial flag on the temple’s pinnacle.
