By Our Correspondent,Urlabari, June 21: Katahari Rural Municipality in Morang unveiled a budget of Rs. 589.14 million for the fiscal year 2025/26.
Katahari Rural Municipality is the first municipality among the 17 municipalities in Morang to present its policy, programme, and budget for the next fiscal year 2025/26.
Vice-chairperson of the rural municipality Sita Devi Rajbanshi presented the budget in the second municipal assembly and seventh session on Thursday.
The rural municipality has allocated Rs. 393.82 million for current expenditure and Rs. 195.342 million for capital expenditure.
It is estimated that Rs. 98.078 million will be collected from internal income, Rs. 358.56 million from intergovernmental financial transfers and Rs. 132.56 million from revenue sharing.
Vice-chairperson Rajbanshi said that the budget has been presented by prioritising the infrastructure, education, health and agriculture sectors.
Around Rs. 22.86 million has been allocated for agriculture.
She said that the budget allocation for the agriculture is expected to help improve the living standards of farmers.
Likewise, with the aim of strengthening the security programmes of local citizens, Rs. 64.945 million has been allocated for the social security and welfare sectors, she said.
This is expected to further strengthen the security programmes of local citizens.
The largest budget has been allocated for the infrastructure sector. The rural municipality has allocated Rs 177.35 million for the development construction including roads, bridges and buildings.
The rural municipality has allocated Rs. 32.2 million for environment and disaster management and Rs. 27.2 million for service delivery and good governance.
Presenting the budget, Vice Chairperson Rajbanshi said that this budget has been prepared keeping in mind the needs, aspirations and priorities of the municipality.
She expressed confidence that the budget would contribute significantly to the overall development of the rural municipality.
Similarly, the rural municipality has also made its policies and programmes public for the next fiscal year.
Chairman of the rural municipality Dev Raj Chaudhary presented the 192-point policy and programme covering issues ranging from infrastructure construction to human resource development.
Presenting the policy and programmes, Chairman Chaudhary said that the policy and programmes of the rural municipality will give a new direction to the development of the rural municipality.
