By Our Corresponded,Ilam, June 19: A ceremony was organised to pay tribute to senior literary figure the late Ganesh Rasik in Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam, on Tuesday.
The event was held by Radio Fikkal, which Rasik had founded, and the Ganesh Rasik Foundation, established with his active involvement, to honour and remember him.
Rasik passed away at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur on June 1.
The tribute programme saw participation from literature and music enthusiasts from Ilam, Jhapa, and neighbouring India.
Among those who paid tribute were Suryodaya Municipality Mayor Rana Bahadur Rai, Deputy Chief of the District Coordination Committee Ilam Chitrakala Barailee, Deputy Mayor Durga Kumar Baral, poet Bimal Baidhya, and various individuals from the literary and musical fields.
The event was also attended by Rasik’s daughter Nirjala Rasik, and other family members.
Under the coordination of musician Bhupendra Rai, artists from different fields performed songs written and sung by Rasik.
Rasik began his musical journey nearly five decades ago. He made his mark as a lyricist, singer, composer, poet, author, essayist, and travel writer.
His notable publications include Sarangibhitra, Ganesh Rasikka Geet, Aakash Gangako Otmuni, Dashgajama Ubhiayera, and Jaba Sisnoharu Tekdai Hide, among others.
Some of his popular songs include patriotic and folk numbers like Hatne Hoina Dati Ladne Nepali Ko Bani Huncha, Tarai Hera Kati Ramro Hariyo Ban Hunale, Mero Tauko Sano Chha, Yo Taukoko Bishal Desh Chha, and Rato Bhale. Some of his creations have also been included in school curricula.
