18 talents selected for the first Gandaki Lok Tara competition

By Our Correspondent,Kaski, June 18: The Gandaki Province chapter of the National Folk and Duet Song Academy Nepal, based in Pokhara, has selected 18 talents for the First ‘Gandaki Lok Tara’ competition.

From Kaski, Umesh Adhikari and Sapana Bishwokarma have been selected. From Syangja, the selected participants are Dilip Kumar Manandhar and Gyanimaya Gurung. Likewise, Parbat, Apsan BK and Shobha Pariyar and from Baglung, Prem BK and Lalita Gharti are picked. 

Similarly, from Myagdi, Bijay Pariyar and Garima Pariyar have been chosen, from Tanahun, Anjana Gurung and Kamal Ale, from Gorkha, Pawan Shree Pariyar and Nischal Gurung, from Lamjung, Man Bahadur Gurung Ranjit and Yugesh Pariyar, and from Nawalpur, Yejikal Pariyar and Kopila Gurung are nominated. 

According to Rajan Karki, President of the Gandaki Province Committee of the Academy, the final competition will be held on the occasion of World Music Day on June 21 through a selection round.

The winner of the competition will receive the title of Lok Tara along with a cash prize of Rs. 51,111. 

Likewise, the first runner-up will receive Rs. 31,111, the second runner-up will get Rs. 21,111, and a consolation prize of Rs. 11,111 will also be awarded.

Krishna Subedi, Treasurer of the Gandaki Province Committee and coordinator of the event, said that the top three winners will also receive an opportunity to record one audio song free of cost.
