By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 17: The Nepal Bhasa music video titled ‘Jheegu Bahaa Jheegu Bahee’ has been released in Kathmandu with financial support from Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The music video was unveiled recently by the former mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Bidya Sundar Shakya.
Presented by lyricist Shailesh Shakya (Bhikshu) of Save Newa Valley, the music video aims to provide insight into the 12 major Bahas and Bahis of Kathmandu.
The music video highlights the culture and civilisation of Shakya Bajracharyas in Bahaa Bahee Macha Janko, Bare Chuigu (Anointing), Panchadan, Bahidyo Visiting, Thayapaa Luigu (Maintaining Seniority), Jyajanko (Bhimarthararohan).
The video narrates how the Shakyas, who were displaced from Kapilvastu, settled in Lagan Tole, making it a sacred land for the Shakyas.
It also explains how the Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers flowing through the Kathmandu Valley are important sites for the final rites of the Newar community.
Furthermore, the video discusses national cultural icons such as the living goddess Kumari, Manka Dya (Mahankal), and Paaladya (Sankata).
The music video has been directed by Ravi Sayami, with music composed by Pabitra Kasa.
Senior singer Juju Kaji Ranjit and Sangita Shakya, among others, have lent their voices to the song.
The arrangement was done by Jibita Jalmi.
