BY A STAFF REPROTER,Kathmandu, June 16: A one-day photo exhibition showcasing cultural photographs was held at Basantapur Durbar Square in Kathmandu on Saturday.

The exhibition, organised by The Locals Kathmandu to preserve and promote cultural heritage, showcased 92 photographs, including the winning entries from the Jatrai Jatra photo competition.

According to Prashanna Manandhar, president of The Locals Kathmandu, the event was held to introduce the Kathmandu Valley’s cultural activities and festivals to the younger generation, as well as to domestic and international tourists.

Manandhar emphasised that such exhibitions provide comprehensive information about festivals of Kathmandu. Stating that the youth need guidance and support, he said that there were plans to expand the exhibition in the future. The organisers are also considering holding similar exhibitions outside the Kathmandu Valley in the coming days.

Earlier, in the Jatrai Jatra photo competition, held at Mahadev Parvati Dabali on the Hanumandhoka premises, Mani Ratna Shahi secured first place, while Riyaz Manandhar and Bigyan Maharjan shared second place and Shreya Ratna Shahi secured third place. The exhibition featured photographs capturing festivals celebrated across different parts of the Kathmandu Valley.
