By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 13: Anjila, which was released on March 13 in theatres, is still surviving in the local theatres.
It seems it may mark 100 days of continuous screening.
On the 91st day of its run, the film was still being screened at City Square Mall, Samakhusi, under the QFX cinema chain in Kathmandu on Wednesday when three shows were scheduled for Thursday.
The film’s producer, Prem Kumar Shrestha, said that as Anjila approaches its 100th day of release, QFX Cinemas is preparing to screen the film at a discounted rate of Rs. 100 not only in the currently running theatre but also in a few other halls across the country.
He said, “Viewers have been coming spontaneously to watch the film. But now that it’s approaching 100 days, QFX’s decision to screen the film at a subsidised rate is something we fully support. It is a positive sign for the Nepali film industry that a film is still screening after 100 days.”
Directed by Milan Chams, Anjila has already ranked among the top five highest-grossing Nepali films of 2081 BS.
According to the producer, the film has earned over Rs. 120 million so far.
The film is based on the life of national women’s football team captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba. She plays the lead role herself, alongside actors Dayahang Rai, Sirjana Subba, Bijay Baral, Maotse Gurung and Prem Kumar Shrestha.
