By Our Correspondent,Pokhara, June 11: The premiere of Mahabhoj, directed by Dinesh Raut, held at Pokhara Cineplex in Chipledhunga enthralled Pokhara people on Monday.

Alongside the film’s cast, Pokhara Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya, Kaski Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma, some cooperative victims, representatives of various organisations, and journalists attended the screening.

The event featured the presence of the film’s lead actors Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Buddhi Tamang, director Dinesh Raut, and producer Himal Kaderia, among others.

After watching the film, Pokhareli audiences praised its storyline, presentation style, and the performances of the actors.

For some, the film evoked a sense of anger. Referring to it as a story that mirrors their pains and struggles, some audience reacted by saying Mahabhoj has the potential to spark a rebellion similar to what the film Aago once ignited.

They claimed that the film has the power to shake those in authority and warned that they would stand against any censorship or cuts made to the film under political pressure.

In the film, Aryan portrays a rural municipality chairperson who uses cooperative funds to contest the elections.

Following this particular scene, a few enraged audience members began chanting slogans, prompting Mayor Acharya to leave the venue without giving any response.

Earlier a special show of the film was held in Kathmandu. Audience responded positively, appreciating how Mahabhoj deeply portrayed the plight of cooperative victims.

Actors including Dayahang Rai, Aryan Sigdel, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Gaumaya Gurung, Basundhara Bhusal and Mohan Niraula have done the movie.

According to the production team, after Pokhara, the film will also have premieres in Butwal, Biratnagar, and Dharan.

Originally scheduled on May 29, the film’s release was postponed to June 13 citing the demonstrations of the pro-royalist groups in Kathmandu.
