By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 10: In a significant step towards strengthening Nepal’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) landscape, Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation) and Lumbini Technological University (LTU), a public technological university based in Nepalgunj, Banke, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in advancing ICT education, research and industry engagement.
The MoU was signed with the shared vision of fostering innovation, promoting skill development, and building strong industry-academia linkages in Nepal, according to a press statement of CAN Federation, the national non-profit organization representing Nepal's ICT sector.
The partnership aims to align academic efforts with the needs of the rapidly evolving ICT sector, ultimately contributing to Nepal’s digital transformation.
Joint programme and event organisation, internship and industry engagement, collaborative research and innovation and policy advocacy in the ICT sector are the key areas of collaboration between the two institutions, read the press statement.
Sunaina Ghimire Pandey, President of CAN Federation, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership with LTU is an important milestone toward nurturing ICT talent at the grassroots level and creating a robust innovation ecosystem in Nepal.”
This alliance underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to bridge the gap between academic institutions and the ICT industry, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped with the skills and experiences needed to succeed in the digital economy.
