Kathmandu, May 10: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has asserted that the constitution of Nepal has guaranteed equal rights to all the nationalities.
At the second convention of Nepal Sherpa Association Bagmati Province here on Saturday, Minister Gurung shared that the contents of the constitution for the amendment have not been finalized yet as made public in different platforms.
Saying that representation of all nationalities has been ensured thanks to the proportional election system, Minister Gurung, who is also the UML Deputy General Secretary, expressed the view that the argument that brought instability in running the state due to this provision was wrong.
"We should be able to warn against the issues like removing secularism and changing electoral system. The Sherpa Association or indigenous federation should be able to raise voices if they feel their rights are being snatched," mentioned Minister Gurung.
He laid emphasis on the need that the members of the Sherpa community should increase their presence in other fields with their traditional occupations.
Similarly, Chairperson of the Nepal Sherpa Association, Gyalze Lama Sherpa, shared that active participation of the Sherpa community was increasing in the Association in recent period. (RSS)
