By The Hindu Bureau, New Delhi, May 10: Indian security officials on Saturday (May 10, 2025) have confirmed that five high-profile terrorist leaders were eliminated in precision strikes conducted on May 7, 2025 against terror facilities in Pakistan during the launch of Operation Sindoor, in retaliation to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, in which 25 Indians and a Nepali citizen were killed.
The targeted terror sites include Bahawalpur (Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) stronghold) and Muridke (Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) base). The operation targeted key figures from designated terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
Among those killed was Mudassar Khadian, who received a guard of honor at his funeral attended by senior Pakistani military leadership, including a serving Lieutenant General. Pakistani Army Chief and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reportedly sent wreaths.
Two brothers-in-law of JeM founder Maulana Masood Azhar were also eliminated -- Hafiz Muhammad Jameel, who managed radical indoctrination operations, and Mohammad Yusuf Azhar, wanted for the 1999 IC-814 aircraft hijacking.
LeT commander Khalid was killed in the same operation. Officials confirmed his funeral in Faisalabad was attended by senior Pakistani Army officials and local government representatives.
According to government officials, the fifth casualty was Mohammad Hassan Khan of JeM, son of the group’s operational commander in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and reportedly coordinated numerous attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.
