Kathmandu, May 5: The National Assembly (NA) members have called for effective implementation of the newly unveiled government's annual policies and programmes for fiscal year 2082/82 BS (2025/26).
Participating in the NA meeting today, the parliamentarians pressed for so while deliberating on the incumbent government's annual policies and programmes presented by President Ramchandra Paudel before the joint session of the House of Representatives and National Assembly on May 2.
On the occasion, Narayan Dutta Bhatta opined that the policies and programmes had incorporated all aspects while Rajendra Laxmi Gaire commended the government's goal to ensure the access of clean drinking water to all by the next fiscal year.
Similarly, Rukmini Koirala lauded notable proposed policies on elimination on violence against women and sensitizing the international community about adverse impacts of climate change-induced challenges and disasters on people and mountains.
Jhakku Prasad Subedi, however, denounced the policies and programmes saying that it did not include programmes aimed at achieving socialism-oriented socio-economic transformation.
He further criticized that these newly presented policies and programmes cannot fulfill the aspirations of Nepali citizens.
Narayan Dutta Mishra underlined the effective implementation of the policies brought forward to drive economic growth and corruption control. He also demanded the provision for the farmers to get appropriate price from the government for their produces.
Furthermore, Radheshyam Paswan saw the need for effectiveness in enforcement of the 'good' policies proposed on agriculture, health, tourism, drinking water and youth.
Bishnudevi Pudasaini appreciated the policies regarding promotion of entrepreneurship, employment, agricultural production and improvement of quality of education among others.
She praised the annual policies clearly outlining common programmes of the all three-levels of government.
Other parliamentarians such as Renu Chand, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Padam Bahadur Pariyar, Maya Prasad Sharma and Tulasa Kumari Dahal also put forth their views on the policies and programmes.
As the deliberation on the newly presented policies and programmes is underway in the Upper House, the NA shall convene again on coming Tuesday at 12:15 PM for more deliberations, said NA Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal. (RSS)
