Kathamdnu, May 3: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to be sensitive to respect and protect freedom of expression and press freedom.

Issuing a statement on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day today, NHRC urged government and all sides concerned to fully respect press and freedom of expression as guaranteed by the national law and constitution and international laws.

Journalists' safety must be given priority, it said, expressing grief over the death of journalist Suresh Rajak in a fire during protest at Tinkune, Kathmandu on March 28 and the injury journalist Sabina Karki received while reporting on teachers' agitation. (RSS)
