Singer Thapa working on fourth album

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu Apr. 27: Singer Narayan Thapa, who initially embarked on his musical journey through participation in school cultural events, has gained significant recognition over time.

After nearly a decade of dedicated learning, he released his first music album, “Ajambari,” in 2015. Since then, he has released two more albums: “Parivesh” in 2020 and “Aakarshan” in 2022. His fourth music album, “Aabhushan,” is currently in the recording phase.

A devoted follower of light (sugam) music, singer Thapa has lent his melodious voice to more than 60 solo songs, including film songs, television soundtracks, national songs, folk songs and contemporary music. Known for his versatility and playback singing abilities, he has become synonymous with adaptability in Nepali music.

He has worked with renowned figures in Nepali music, like lyricists Kali Prasad Rijal, Rajendra Thapa, Dr. Krishna Hari Baral, Anand Adhikari, Dr. Rajubabu Shrestha, and B.B. Thapa, and music directors like Arjun Pokharel, Basanta Sapkota, Shikhar Santosh, Deepak Sharma and Gaire Suresh. Additionally, he has collaborated with both veteran and emerging female singers, lyricists and composers, including Sharmila Bardewa, Melina Rai, Samiksha Adhikari and Shanti Shree Pariyar.

Singer Thapa is the Treasurer of the National Creator and Performer Academy, Secretary of PIM Nepal, and a member of the Performers Society of Nepal. 

His contributions have been widely recognised, earning him numerous honours and awards like Barsha Byakti Samman – 2078, National Musician Award – 2079, Nepal Music and Fashion Award – 2022, National Personality and Talent Award – 2080, Sagarmatha Art Award – 2080, National Exceptional Talent Award, National Personality Award – 2081, Genius Music Award – 2078, Nepal Art, Culture & Music Award – 2078 and the 6th Sagarmatha Music Award – 2081.

Singer Thapa has lent his voice to popular songs such as “Aajkalka Munamadan,” “Kunai Din Ta,” “Timro Aakarshanle” and recently released tracks like “Antai Maya Satyaau,” “Aaudhi Man Paraen,” “Timro Sparshle”. Upcoming releases include “Aaudhi Manparieko,” (duet version), “Dil Aafnai Thiyo,” “Mayale,” “Khatara Holani” and “Banai Ma Phulne.”
