Army team feted for winning gold medal in Pakistan

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 23: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel honoured the gold medal- winning Nepali Army team that participated in the 8th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS), held in Pakistan, with the "Chief of the Army Staff Commendation Badge" at a ceremony held at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday.

A total of 11 members who took part in the competition were honoured in recognition of their significant contribution to enhancing the image and pride of Nepal and the Nepali Army by achieving excellent results in an international-level military exercise, according to a press note issued by the Directorate of the Public Relations and Information of the Army Headquarters.

The military exercise was conducted from April 10 to 18 in the Kharian region of Punjab Province in Pakistan.

It featured participation from 24 international teams representing 16 countries. The exercise tested the teams' physical endurance, mental resilience, professional knowledge, and tactical skills.

This international competition, held annually since 2016, had previously seen participation from the Nepali Army in 2022, where they also secured the gold medal.

The honour ceremony was attended by the Chief of General Staff, and Chief of Staff, general officers and junior officers, and personnel of various ranks.
