By Amarraj Naharki, Tanahun, Apr.16: Moti Kumar Shrestha, a prominent democracy fighter and a senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Tanahun, has passed away. Shrestha, hailing from Damauli, Vyas Municipality-3, passed away on Tuesday evening at the age of 93.
Shrestha had been ill for a long time.
Shrestha had participated in all three movements: the Movement for the Establishment of Democracy in 1950 (2007 BS), the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy in 1989 (2046 BS), and the People's Movement of 2006/07 (2062/063 BS.) Shrestha was also the former ward chairman of the Vyas Municipality.
The late Shrestha's final cremation is scheduled for Wednesday at Pashupati Aryaghat.
Minister OF Health and Population Pradip Paudel, Central member and Member of Parliament (MP) Govinda Bhattarai, Dhruba Wagle, Pushpa Raj Parajuli, among others, have expressed their grief in a condolence statement, saying that the death of the late Shrestha has caused an irreparable loss to the Nepali Congress.
