By Prem Adhikari, Ilam, April 13: Ambassadors of different countries to Nepal have arrived at Kanyam in Suryodaya Municipality for the visit of this scenic tea spot on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2082 BS.
Over 45 dignitaries led by Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba that include Foreign Secretary Amrit Rai, foreign Ambassadors and officials of Nepal Tourism Board reached here today afternoon.
The Municipality officials welcomed them here at Kanyam tea garden with traditional musical instruments Panche Baja and then took to Antu for night stay.
While in Kanyam, the Ambassadors were adorned with indigenous costumes and offered horse ride around Love Danda.
Rana Bahadur Rai, mayor of Suryodaya Municipality, informed that the foreign Ambassadors were brought to Kanyam and Antu as per the annual programme of the Foreign Ministry to arrange visits of envoys to a new tourist destination on the occasion of Nepali New Year.
During their stay in Antu, the Ambassadors will go for enjoying sun rise scene from Antu peak at dawn tomorrow. They will also be presented with Rai, Lampcha, Newari, Sakela and Jhankri dance and have experience of tea picking in Antu tea garden, fishing in Antu pond, cheese tasting, cardamom tasting and tea tasting of different varieties.
Ambassadors of countries such as Egypt, South Korea, UK, Switzerland, Thailand, Australia, France, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were among the envoys who have fixed the visit, according to Amrit Bahadur Rai, Chief Administrative Officer of the Municipality.
The informal visit of the Ambassadors to Kanyama and Antu is expected to help promote the publicity of these scenic tourist destinations where domestic tourists flock round the year.
