Chaudhary elected FONIJ chair

By Laxman Paudel, Bhairahawa, April 13: Journalist Lucky Chaudhary has been elected the chairman of the Federation of Nepali Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (FONIJ).

Acting editor of the online edition of the Gorkhapatra Daily, Chaudhary was elected unopposed in the eighth general convention of the FONIJ as another candidate for the top post, Amardhwaj Lama, withdrew his candidacy.

Although some office bearers including the Chair were elected unopposed, election is being held for some office bearers and central members under open category.

Saru Rana has been elected as senior vice-chair while Anjana Silpakar has been elected as vice-chair under woman category unopposed while Samir Balami has been elected general secretary and Lila Darai as secretary under minority category unopposed.


Similarly, Bishwaraj Tamang has been elected vice-chair under open category, Arjun Tamang as treasurer and Milan Gaha, MB Magar and Sandip Shrestha as secretary. Maya Palung has been elected secretary under woman category.

According to Milan Gaha, newly elected secretary, 15 office bearers and 49 central committee members have been elected by the convention.
