Eight women’s team to compete in Lumbini Cup

By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, Apr. 10: The Lumbini Cup International Invitational Women's Football Tournament will see the participation of eight teams, including three departmental teams from Nepal and India's Siliguri Football Club. Holding a press meet on Wednesday, organiser Antaral announced the name of participating teams of the tournament slated to take place from April 18 to 25 at Nepalgunj Stadium. 

According to Jaynarayan Shah, the Chief Executive of Antaral, host Banke-11, APF FC, Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Karnali FC, Sudurpaschim FC, Siliguri Football Club, and Rautahat District Football Association will be vying for the title. 

Organized in collaboration with the Banke District Football Association, the winning team will receive Rs. 505,555, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs. 250,000 along with a trophy and medals.

Director Shah shared that outstanding players in every match and those excelling in specific categories will be recognized and rewarded. He added that post-tournament, the organizers plan to conduct regular football training and focus on repairing and maintaining the physical infrastructure of the stadium. 

Football personnel have expressed confidence that this initiative will aid in nurturing new players, while Banke District Football Association President Bhojraj Shahi highlighted the tournament's role in promoting women football players in western Nepal.
