Kathmandu, April 6: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been urged to include a programme in the upcoming budget for the operation of the Khaptad Engineering Campus in Doti.
A delegation comprising members of the intellectual community of the district, including the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) representatives, met the Prime Minister at his official residence, Baluwatar, and urged the government to pay attention to the construction of the necessary physical infrastructure of the Campus for the smooth operation of its academic courses.
Former minister Bir Bahadur Balayar, Constituent Assembly members Gauri Oli and Bharat Bahadur Khadka, Sudurpaschim Province Assembly member Chakra Malla, District Coordination Committee Chief Laxman Bahadur Singh, Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality mayor Baji Singh Khadka, KI Singh Rural Municipality Chair Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, Nepali Congress District President Narendra Bahadur Singh, CPN (UML) District chair Manju Malasi, among others, were present at the Prime Minister's residence.
The delegation asked for support from a higher political level as the campus was failing to manage the proper budget to run the courses.
While responding the delegation, Prime Minister Oli committed to managing the budget for the campus adding that he was aware of Doti's developmental situation. Prime Minister further shared that the upcoming budget would be made balanced and well managed properly understanding the geographical disparity in the country. He further opined that if the hostel was constructed in the campus premises, students from remote areas would be benefited.
The programme was attended by UML senior vice chair Ishwar Pokharel and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak among other central leaders as well. (RSS)
