By Kabiraj Ghimire, Hile, Apr.6: A massive fire broke out in Uttarpani of Pakhribas Municipality-9, causing damage worth over Rs 110 million.
The fire broke out in a two-story house of local Amar Shrestha, made of wood, leaves and a tin roof.
A fire broke out suddenly in the TV room at 7:30 PM on Saturday.
According to victim Shrestha, the wholesale shop operating next to the house and cash worth Rs. 500,000 were completely gutted in the fire.
According to Suman Khadka, Police Inspector of the District Police Office, the windows, doors and walls of Shrestha's two-story under-construction concrete house got damaged, resulting in a loss of nearly Rs 110 million.
The police initially suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
The two-story house under construction of Khagendra Ghising, which is adjacent to Shrestha's house, has been partially damaged.
The initial estimate of damage to the house is around Rs. 600,000.
The fire was brought under control after about four hours with the help of the Dhankuta Municipality Fire Department, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police.
Locals have alleged that the fire was not put out in time, causing more damage.
