Resident doctors demand equal pay

blog

Tansen, April 5: Resident doctors studying at the Lumbini Medical College in Palpa have submitted a three-point memorandum to Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, demanding remuneration equal to eighth-level medical officer.

They asked the Minister to provide equal salary to the MD, MS, MDS resident doctors of private medical college as provided to the government's eighth level medical officer and to correct matching process of MD, MS and MDS.

The resident doctors also demanded to form a drafting committee to make Master's Programme Operation Procedure incorporating arrangement of working hour, leave, remuneration, transparency and impartiality of examination along with a provision of a separate regulatory body.

Dr Deepak Kandel of LMC said they had decided not to go for work until their demands were addressed.

Meanwhile, the health services at the hospital have been affected due to agitation, according to the Hospital Administration.

Receiving the memorandum, Minister Paudel, however, shared that most of the demands of resident doctors have already been addressed. Other demands would be addressed immediately.

He further said the concerned private medical colleges were already asked to implement the government's decision.(RSS)
