Myagdi (Beni), Feb 22: Construction of three hydropower projects has begun in Mudi, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-4 of the district.
Construction of three hydropower
projects with a capacity of 155 megawatts has begun on the Myagdi River flowing
from the foothills of Mt Dhaulagiri.
The 53.5 megawatt Upper Myagdi-I,
the 65 megawatt Myagdikhola Hydropower Project and 37 megawatt Upper Myagdi
Hydropower Project are the project to see start of construction.

Prasad Pun said that construction work has progressed on three projects out of
the eight hydropower projects registered along the Myagdi River and its
tributaries Gurja and Mudi rivers.
The Upper Myagdi-1 Hydropower
Project, which will have a dam in Khamla of Mudi and a power house in Malika
Rural Municipality-7, Bharbang, has completed the construction of the access
road and has started construction of the tunnel and dam infrastructure, said
Project Chief Jyoti Kumar KC.
The 65-megawatt Myagdikhola
Hydropower Project, which will have a dam in Mudi and a power house in Jeltung,
has constructed the access road to the power house. Preparations are being made
to build infrastructure and construct a tunnel for the power house in Jeltung,
which is six kilometers from Naura.
Project Chief KC said that
preparations are being made to proceed simultaneously with the construction of
the tunnel and the expansion of the access road from the power house to the
dam.
The 37-megawatt Upper Myagdi
Hydropower Project in Mudikai has also completed the construction of the access
road and is preparing to construct the tunnel, shared Managing Director of the
project, Jit Bahadur Gharti.
With the introduction of hydropower
projects, road access has been provided to remote settlements such as Khamla,
Naura, Khibang Bagar and others in the district. (RSS)
