Lamasal cremated at Swargadwari Ghat, 76-year-old grandfather lit fire in pyre

By Laxman Paudel, Bhairahawa, Feb.20:  Prakriti Lamsal, who was brought to Nepal on Wednesday night, was cremated on Thursday. 

The body of Prakriti, a B-Tech third-year student of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, who died in India was brought to home district Rupandehi at 11 PM on Wednesday.

Her body was kept overnight at Bank Colony House in Siddharth Nagar Municipality-8 and taken to Swargadwari Ghat in the morning for performing last rites.

Her 76-year-old grandfather Devnath Lamsal, light fire on the pyre of Prakriti's deceased body.

Hundreds of locals, security officials, industrialists and businessmen, and local people's representatives participated in Prakriti's funeral. 

There was an intense emotional moment after Prakriti's body was brought home. 

According to family sources, Prakriti's body was brought from Odisha to Gorakhpur in an airplane on Wednesday and from Gorakhpur to home in a vehicle.

Prakriti, who was studying B-Tech in the college of KIIT University in Odisha's capital, Bhubaneswar,  reportedly died by suicide in her hostel room on Sunday of being unable to bear harassment from Shrivastava (21), a third-year B.Tech (Mechanical) student on same college. 

Suraj Karki, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and information officer at the District Police Office, Rupandehi said that the funeral was done at night and now the situation here is normal.
