Mayor Balen Shah’s song in YouTube trending

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 12: The song from the film Laaj Sharanam has reached number one on YouTube’s trending list.

The song, sung by Balen Shah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City entered YouTube’s trending section just a few hours after its release.

As of Tuesday evening, the song has climbed to the first position in YouTube’s music trending section.

The song so far has been viewed over 1 million times on the platform. 

Mayor Balen himself penned, composed and sang the song. It visualises a developed Nepal while portraying the current reality.

This is the first song sung by Balen since he became mayor.

Laaj Sharanam is a film produced by the team behind the comedy TV series Sakkigoni. From writers and actors to the director, the entire team is from Sakkigoni.

Actor Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus’ played the lead role in the film while Kumar Kattel directed the film.

Alongside Dhurmus, the film features Arjun Ghimire, Sagar Lamsal, Harish Niraula, Priyana Acharya, Bijay Baral, Mahesh Tripathi, Arpan Thapa, Renu Yogi, Bijay Lama, Mukunda Shrestha, Mala Limbu, and others.

Produced under the banner of JPT Creations, the film’s producer is Nabin Shrestha, while Ram Naresh Shah and Srijana Khadka are the co-producers.

The film is set to be released on February 26 on the occasion of the Maha Shivaratri festival.
