By Guna Raj Roka,Sulikot, Jan. 26: According to Gorkha Museum Chief Jaya Narayan Karki, around 66,000 people have visited the historic Gorkha Museum since August. A total of 65,346 people visited the Gorkha Museum from July/August to December/January of the current fiscal year.
People visiting the Gorkha Museum have been divided into four groups. Most Nepalis visited the museum in the last six months of the current fiscal year. To obtain the actual data of the people visiting the Gorkha Museum, the visitors are divided into four categories that are Nepali students, general Nepalis, SAARC nationals and foreigners.
According to the data provided by the Gorkha Museum, out of 65,346 people, 36,333 Nepalis, 27,918 Nepali students, 56 from SAARC countries and 1,039 foreigners from third countries have visited the Gorkha Museum. Compared to the statistics of the last fiscal year, 2708 visitors have increased in the same period of this fiscal year.
Gorkha Museum Chief Karki said that in the last fiscal year, the museum saw a total of 62,708 visitors.
Gorkha Museum was made public on June 2, 2018, by former prime minister and Chairman of the Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. Karki said that after the opening of the palace, Nepali citizens and other countries gathered to see the historical place that holds the legacy of the unification of Nepal by Prithvi Narayan Shah. The palace depicts the history of the Shah dynasty. Both domestic and international tourists visiting Gorkha Durbar have increased over the years.
Tourists are amazed to see the household items used by Prithivi Narayan Shah when he was a child and the cultural costumes of various ethnic groups of that era. Gorkha Museum features various weapons used by Prithvi Narayan Shah and his troops during the unification of Nepal.
Tourists visiting the Gorkha Museum can see the bed used by Prithvi Narayan Shah, the courtyard he played in when he was a child and the armour he and his troops used during the unification campaign. In the museum, there are pots and measuring utensils, wooden carved windows and the artistic veranda with 16 pillars.
