Industry Ministry urged to respond on price hike of construction materials

Kathmandu, Jan 21: The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has been urged to explain the reason behind the recent price hike of construction-related materials. 

In Tuesday's meeting of the Public Account Committee, most of the lawmakers raised the issue of the skyrocketing price hike of construction materials.     

After the meeting, Committee President Rishikesh Pokharel made a ruling to call the Ministry for discussion on Wednesday about the issue.     

The meeting decided to form a seven-member subcommittee under the coordination of lawmaker Sanjay Kumar Gautam to study the various complaints lodged with the Committee and to present the most important complaints in the committee soon.     

Likewise, the meeting decided to ask for the study reports the committee had demanded from the government time and again, as the reports had not been received yet. It called the government's attention to the issue of shortage of chemical fertilizers, among others, said President Pokharel. (RSS)
