Parbat, Jan 19: Two campuses operating in the district headquarters Kushmabazar have been merged. The Gupteshwor Multiple Campus and Shivalaya Multiple Campus have been merged to form the Kushma Multiple Campus.
Gupteshwor Campus had been
operating since 2048 BS and Shivalaya Multiple Campus since 2067 BS. The
committee formed under the coordination of former management committee chair of
Shivalay Multiple Campus, Govinda Pahadi, took the final decision on Saturday
for the campus merger.
The newly named Kushma Multiple
Campus has also been approved by Tribhuvan University. The committee had
presented the future blueprint for the campus operation, from the amendment of
legal provisions to the merger of the two campuses. The merger reportedly took place
due to the economic slowdown, government non-cooperation and the decreasing
number of students every year.
Currently, there are 262 students
including postgraduates in Gupteshwor Multiple Campus and 268 students in
Shivalaya Multiple Campus. Coordinator Pahadi said that the integration had to
be done as the number of students in the campuses was continuously decreasing,
though the administrative and operational expenses were increasing.
With the completion of the campus
integration process, classes conducted on both sides will be conducted in an
integrated manner from the current academic session.
There are 12 community campuses
operating across the district. The number of students in most of the campuses
in the district is low. Due to the low number of students, many other campuses
are reportedly in a state of closure. (RSS)
