Kathmandu, Jan 12: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has said that the government released over Rs 107.66 billion in agricultural grants in the last five years.
At a news conference at the Ministry on Sunday, Minister Adhikari said so while releasing the names of agricultural cooperative, groups and farms that received grants from the government since fiscal year 2076/77 BS to 2080/81 BS.
Adhikari mentioned that both direct and indirect grants were provided by the Ministry
According to Minister, agricultural cooperative, agricultural groups and firms received over Rs 20.3 billion as direct grants. The amount was released through national and international projects under the Ministry.
During the press meet, the Minister also warned that any misuse of the grants would be investigated and punished.
Likewise, more than Rs 87.35 billion was distributed as an indirect grant for chemical fertilizers.
Minister Adhikari stated that the Ministry has formed a panel to evaluate the allocation of agricultural grants and to take action against any misuse.
