Baglung, Jan 9: The farmers of Kathekhola Rural Municipality-6 in Baglung district have produced oranges worth Rs 54 million this year. The production of oranges this year grew by Rs 20 million compared to last year, Agricultural Technician at Kathekhola Rural Municipality Agni Kandel said.
The farmers in the rural
municipality produced oranges worth Rs 35 million last year.
The farmers inward no. 6 of the
rural municipality have done orange farming on 30 hectares of land and grew
almost 900 metric tonnes this year, Kandel said.
He stated that production was
higher this year as no disease was reported in the orange plants and added that
the technical support from the rural municipality also contributed to the
higher production.
He mentioned that the rural municipality is working to expand orange farming here.
Loknath Kandel, a farmer from
Kathekhola Rural Municipality-6, said production of oranges is on the rise in
his village adding that garden management was more important for increased
production.
The farmers here have shared that
they have no issues with the market for oranges since the buyers visit the gardens to
pay the farmers. (RSS)
