NPC’s women defeat BYC, U16 boys draw with HSC

blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 8: Nepal Police Club’s two teams were in action in two separate leagues underway at the Satdobato-based ANFA Complex on Tuesday. While the women’s team emerged victorious against Bagmati Youth Club (BYC), the U16 boys’ team played a draw with the Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC).

NPC opened the goal tally against BYC in the ninth minute by Niru Thapa. Thapa expertly chest-controlled a cross from Birsana Chaudhary at the edge of the 6-yard box, then flicked the ball elegantly over the goalkeeper.

However, BYC made a comeback after trailing first. Yet, they could only prevent the score from extending, not equalise.

In the end, NPC extended the lead to 2-0. The second and final goal for Police came in the 82nd minute. The second goal shared one common aspect with the first one: Birsana was again involved.

Birsana passed the ball to Puja Rana inside the box allowing her to score in the far corner and secure three points for the club. Puja was adjudged the player of the match.

Police have levelled points with APF but the latter has one more game in hand.

U16 League

On the other hand, NPC’s boys’ team played a tie with HSC in the second game on Tuesday at ANFA Complex. They played after the fixture between Church Boys United (CBU) and Friends’ Club Kupondole (FCK) where the CBU won by 1-0.

Saurav Bhujel scored the only goal between CBU and FCK in the 90th minute shattering FCK’s chance for a point from a draw.

Regarding the NPC and HSC encounter, both teams scored three each. HSC was scoring first and NSC was busy equalising throughout the game.

Sujan Syangtan was the sole scorer for HSC with a hattrick. He was the first scorer of the game with a score in the 27th minute. Sujan’s last two goals came in the 43rd and 76th minutes.

Sujan was the player of the match; however, his effort was insufficient. Whenever he scored a goal and gained a lead for HSC, NPC made a comeback with an equaliser.

Samir Kumar scored the first for NPC in the 32nd and Samir Rai made it 2-2 by converting a penalty in the 49th minute. Rai made it 3-3 two minutes later, in the 78th, after Sujan completed his hattrick.

The ANFA ground will see Satdobato vs APF and Army vs Three Star in the first two encounters of the U16 League. The two games will be followed by Waling vs Army in the Women’s League Final Round.
