By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 8: The 8th Central Committee meeting of the CPN-UML concluded on Tuesday by passing the political report, organisational reform plans and contemporary proposals.
The meeting began on Sunday. Addressing the closing session of the meeting after discussions on his political report, party chairperson and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that there were no longer any former factions within the party and that all members are now part of the present UML.
“There are no former factions in UML. Let us not look for the past; instead, let us seek the present UML, a vibrant UML of today,” Oli said.
“We are not status quoists; we are revolutionaries. Our goal is to achieve socialism and ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’ We must stand united against internal and external encirclements to work effectively for the welfare of the country.” Chairperson Oli said that leaders like Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal had attempted to divide the unified party in the past.
He emphasised that while criticisms could remain within the party, factionalism and anarchy under the guise of democracy would not be acceptable.
He assured that the UML-led government, along with the Nepali Congress, would continue working towards stability and prosperity.
He clarified that their efforts were focused on achieving socialism, not merely on winning elections or staying in power.
Oli urged party leaders and cadres to utilise social media more effectively to promote the party’s achievements.
Prime Minister Oli reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to a non-aligned foreign policy and balanced
relations with its neighbours, stating that Nepal would benefit from their development.
He also expressed his determination to reclaim Nepal’s territory as included in the country’s political map.
