By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, June 11: Music Royalty Collection Society Nepal (MRCSN) has distributed royalty payments to songwriters and composers in Kathmandu recently.
According to the society, the royalties were collected from TikTok, the transport sector, radio stations, hotels, and both domestic and international sources.
Marking its Foundation Day and 19th anniversary, the Society organised a programme at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu, where royalties were distributed to songwriters, composers, and publishers who had registered their songs and works with the organisation.
As songs and creators who are not registered with the Society do not have records in its database, they are often deprived of royalty payments, according to the Society.
Chief Executive Officer Sagar Pandey of the society said that the royalty distribution process, required criteria, and the various sectors from which royalties are collected.
The Society stated that it is also introducing a facility that will allow members to transfer their accumulated royalties directly into their own bank accounts at a time convenient.
According to Society hairman Suresh Chandra Adhikari, songwriters and composers who are unable to visit the organisation’s office can obtain information by telephone or register their songs directly through the website.
