'Parliamentary committee cannot remain indifferent to citizen's complaints'

Kathmandu, Jan 6: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has pointed out that the parliamentary committees should listen to the complaints of citizens.     

Responding to queries raised by the members of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on Monday's meeting of the Committee, Minister Lekhak said, "The grievance, concerns, problems and complaints of any citizen towards the parliament cannot be ignored. Parliament and parliamentary committees are the suitable platform to put their concerns, problems and complaints."     

He also suggested the officials to classify the complaints of the citizens. The Home Minister mentioned that the government has forwarded activities keeping in mind the human sensitivity and difficulties faced by the people of west Nepal—Jajarkot, Doti and Bajura districts who were hit by an earthquake, during the winter season last year as well as those affected by landslide and flood this year.     

"Though it was late to carry out relief and reconstruction tasks due to lack of legal and administrative tools and budget, the reconstruction activities will start within few days as the recent cabinet has passed criteria for it."     

The meeting agreed to form a sub-committee to address the complaints and move ahead on the basis of the suggestions.     

Committee Chairperson Ram Hari Khaitwada said that 58 complaints were registered out of 92 complaints and applications received in the committee. (RSS)
