Birgunj (Parsa), Jan 6: Birgunj Metropolitan City (BMC) has started removing temporary structures built in the encroached land of BP Park nearby Ghantaghar Chowk.
The metropolitan city has started
vacating the places by mobilizing dozers since Sunday after hesitation from
concerned sides to remove the temporary houses, vegetables and fruit markets in
the park despite issuance of public notices twice.
Birgunj City Police Chief Hari
Bhusal said that around 40 temporary houses have been vacated by mobilizing
dozers after reluctance to remove the makeshift structures despite issuing
public notices twice.
"We have started vacating the
encroached BP Park since Sunday," he said, adding, "This campaign
will not be stopped until all the encroached areas are cleared."
Over 250 temporary houses,
vegetable, fruit and cloth shops, and stalls of various food items are
operating temporarily in BP Park.
Bhusal said that the metropolis is
evacuating BP Park by giving a suitable alternative. "We have made
arrangements to set up an agriculture market at Nagarwa in ward 16 for
vegetable and fruit business here," he said.
