Kathmandu, Jan 1: Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, held discussion with authorities concerned on the urgency of vigilance to confront Mpox risk in Nepal.
He reached the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Wednesday for the on-site inspection and garnered information from concerned officials on how spread of Mpox could be checked at the very point of air entry.
Currently, the Ministry is running health desks for passengers coming home via the air in a bid to prevent the spread of Mpox.
Minister Paudel said the ministry was committed to preventing further spread among the citizens including airlines, civil aviation officers, immigration staff and security personnel at the airport. "We are ready to provide you with the necessary assistance in any matter", he said, "If there is any problem, please let us know on time."
Currently, two Nepali citizens who came from Saudi Arabia have been infected and one of them has returned home after treatment. Another one, who is undergoing treatment at the Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, is out of life-threatening condition.(RSS)
