Kathmandu, Dec 31: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is to provide electricity required for the construction of roads under the Kathmandu-Tarai-Madhes Fast Track in Mandu Maltabansi of Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-8 and Sisneri Kogate area of Indrasarobar Rural Municipality-3 in Makawanpur through alternative arrangements.
NEA has already made alternative arrangements to ensure that the construction of the fast track is not affected due to lack of electricity.
There is no problem in the power supply to the residents of the area. NEA said.
NEA is making alternative arrangements to ensure that the construction of bridges, gallery tunnels, tunnels and other structures in Mandu Maltabesi and Sisneri Kogate areas of the fast track is not affected due to lack of electricity.
The fast track will require about 12 MW of electricity. Construction is being done in four packages in the area.
Under the alternative arrangement of power supply, the Kulekhani first hydro power station from Dhorsing to Mandu will be brought into operation at 11 KV.
According to NEA, preparations have been made to install the 22.5 MVA power transformer in Kathmandu by taking it to Dhorsing substation and supplying necessary electricity for the fast track.
Another large capacity transformer is to be installed as additional power cannot be supplied since the power transformer of 5 MVA capacity is currently running at full load for local power supply to Dhorsing substation.
The 22 MW Bagmatikhola Small Hydro power Project operated by Mandu Hydropower has been shut down due to floods and landslides triggered by the rains on last September.
The flood in the Bagmati river had washed away the switch yard that supplies electricity generated from the project and equipment including the power transformer installed by the NEA there.
The electricity generated from the project was transmitted to Dhorsing through 66 KV transmission line and Malta substation of Lalitpur through 33 KV line. ---
