By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 28: The newly released song ‘Makhamali’ from the Nepali film ‘Unko Sweater’ (The Woolen Sweater) which is set to be released on May 9, is ascending the trending charts on YouTube.
Released on Thursday evening, the song managed to trend within just two hours in various countries with a significant Nepali diaspora.
Currently, it ranks fourth on Nepal’s trending list, first in Malta, second in Qatar, ninth in the UAE, thirteenth in Kuwait, and twenty-seventh in Australia.
Director Nabin Chauhan of the film expressed confidence that the film would win hearts just as the song has.
The song revitalises the popular Nepali folk ‘Kauda/Chutka’ tune while artistically depicting the unspoken love between actors Bipin Karki and Miruna Magar. Based on the cultural backdrop of Phalelung in Panchthar, the film’s songs and visuals have resonated with audiences. ‘Makhamali’ is sung by Sujan Chapagain and Sunita Thegim, with lyrics by Hark Saud and music composed by Sujan Chapagain.
The teaser of the song released a few days prior, had already garnered significant interest from audience. Following the release of the full song, it has surpassed expectations and gained widespread attention.
‘Unko Sweater’ is the first feature film produced under the banner of Artmandu. Directed by Nabin Chauhan, with co-writing by Suraj Katuwal, the film features Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Sunil Pokharel, Maotse Gurung, Wilson Bikram Rai, Prem Subba, Alex Paras, Pariksha Limbu, Suraj Tamang, and Bhawana Khapangi Magar, among others.
