TRN's former editors, three working journalists honoured

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 17: The Rising Nepal Daily has honoured three of its former editors and three working journalists.

 Minister for Communication and Information and Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung and Secretary at the Ministry Radhika Aryal jointly felicitated former chief editors Shyam Bahadur KC and  Prof. P. Kharel at the ceremony organised on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the daily on Monday. 

Minister Gurung and Secretary Aryal honoured them with certificates and shawls. 

However, founding editor Aditya Man Shrestha was unable to attend the function and receive the honour. 

All three editors worked with the first English Daily for several years in different capacities. 

Shaym Bahadur KC is the third Editor-in-Chief of the first English broadsheet daily. He served as Chief Editor for over seven years from July 1985 to November 1992.

Likewise, Prof. Kharel served as Editor-in-Chief from December 1992 to December 1994. 

Among three working journalists felicitated on the occasion include Ajita Rijal from the Features Department, Laxman Kafle from the Reporting Section and Chola Kanta Khanal from the News Desk.

 Minister Gurung, Secretary Aryal and Gorkhapatra Corporation's Executive Chairman Bishnu Subedi, General Manager Lal Bahadur Airi and Acting Editor-In-Chief Bhimsen Thapaliya jointly honoured the three journalists with certificates and cash prizes.
