Godawari (Kailali), Dec 10: The construction of a bridge over the Shivaganga river of Kailali district has not been completed despite the passage of seven years since beginning. The motorable bridge to connect Dhangadhi Submetropolis-17 with ward no 16 has not gained pace.
The locals and their
representatives have blamed sheer recklessness of the Pappu Adventures
contracted for the bridge construction.
It was contracted to complete the
undertaking at the cost of Rs 142.6 million with the term of three years. Chair
of ward no 17 from Dhangadhi Sub-metropolis, Madhav Raj Rana, informed that the
construction company had only dug the foundation till date for the task.
However, the company was paid Rs 31
million after it claimed that it completed 30 percent of the work.
Reasoning that it failed to
accomplish the undertaking by the deadline of July 2020, the Road Division
Office had to extend the term repeatedly. Division Office Chief at
Mahendranagar, Hari Subedi, admitted that the construction company was extended
the term for project after its demand.
Subedi, however, said bridge
construction would complete in the current year.
When it is rainy season, the people
face acute problem and sometime even pay fee for those helping to wade it. (RSS)
