Family court grants divorce to actor Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth

Mumbai, Nov. 29: A family court on Wednesday granted divorce to actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Dhanush, son of film director Kasthuriraja and Aishwarya, daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, got married on November 18, 2004 with the blessings of both their families. Out of wedlock, they have two sons.

Nearly after 18 years of marriage, they announced their separation officially in November 2022. 

Then, they approached the family court to get separated legally and filed a petition for divorce on mutual consent.  On November 21 , 2024,they appeared before the family court judge Subhadevi, who held an in-camera proceedings. However, they were firm on getting separated. 

Accordingly, the judge granted divorce to them on Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, Dhanush recently filed a civil suit against actor Nayanthara and her husband and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan for using visuals related to the Tamil movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) in the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films Private Limited.

On the work front, Aishwarya Rajinikanth last directed Lal Salaam, which had a cameo from Rajinikanth. 

Dhanush is awaiting the release of Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula and also starring Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna. He is also wrapping up his two directorials, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobamand Idli Kadai. (PTI)
